Abraham Joshua Heschel School

HAKS provided special inspections for construction of the $100 million Abraham Joshua Heschel School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The nine-story, 146,000-square-foot academic center is home to 1,000 students. HAKS was responsible for 26 different field inspection categories, as required by the City of New York and New York State. Inspection categories included concrete, steel, welding, masonry, soils, fireproofing, and final inspection, among others, as well as inspection of both the concrete and steel fabrication processes.

Staff inspectors are experts in their respective fields, carrying specific certifications and licenses that are mandatory for special inspections, such as Certified Welding Inspector, International Code Council, and Professional Engineer, assuring that the completed building was constructed according to the contract plans and specifications, and conforms to all state and local requirements.

Groundbreaking for the project was held on December 5, 2010, and it was completed in 2012.
