Clason Point Gardens Steam Distribution System Upgrade

HAKS is providing MEP design services for the replacement of the heating system at Clason Point Gardens in the Bronx for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Boilers in three buildings provide space heating and domestic hot water to the entire 46-building complex.   The $10 million project is being performed as part of a task-order contract with NYCHA.

The project involves an economic analysis outlining the benefits of upgrading the steam distribution system; removal of steam distribution pipes in the entire development; removal of zone valves, condensate and vacuum pumps and steam traps; hazardous material abatement/remediation; development of a plan for location of sidewalks, street, parking lots, trees, light posts, fences, storage sheds and underground utilities in affected areas; design of a new steam distribution system, new condensate and vacuum pumps, and new steam traps; and provision of detailed A/E specifications for the entire project and support during the construction and post-construction phases.

The HAKS team is completely managing and administering the project, which includes design, load calculation, equipment selection, shop drawing review, and response to RFI. Services include construction management, inspection, supervision, management and coordination.
