City of Milford Department of Public Works Roof Design

Milford, Connecticut<br style='line-height:2px'>City of Milford

The City of Milford Department of Public Works is responsible for the security, maintenance, repair and utilities at 18 municipal buildings and at all city parks, greens and recreational areas.  HAKS provided architectural and engineering services for the design of a new low-slope shingle roof over three garages for the City of Milford.

We performed an exterior and interior site investigation of the existing building to determine the physical condition of structural elements and exterior masonry conditions at garage areas and obtained the field data required to prepare the architectural and structural construction documents for the new roof.

Work included the design of a lightweight steel frame to support the new roofing system; relocation of existing mechanical roof equipment and appurtenances to the top of the roof; repair of several facade masonry deficiencies; and removal of all asbestos-related materials associated with the removal of the existing roofing system.
