Long Hill Road Reconstruction

HAKS is providing complete survey, design, permitting and construction administration and inspection services for this 3,800-linear-foot roadway reconstruction project for the Town of Guilford Engineering and Public Works Department.

The project involves uniform pavement widening, rehabilitation and realignment and signalized intersection improvements. It also includes detailed hydraulic modeling, major culvert replacement and roadway flooding alleviation for this primary north-south corridor urban collector between Route 1 and the northerly town line.

The culvert replacement will be a bridge structure to handle flows from the 1.5-square-mile drainage area of Spinning Mill Brook at the discharge into the West River. There are over 50 square miles of drainage area, as well as a tidal influence from nearby Long Island Sound. Strict adherence to all environmental requirements and regulations relating to work adjacent to Long Island Sound were incorporated into planned improvements.
