Cedar Creek Park Synthetic Turf Fields

Wantagh, New York<br style='line-height:2px'>Nassau County Department of Public Works

HAKS was part of a team that performed civil and structural engineering design and land surveying services for the $2 million replacement of a high-usage soccer field with two new multi-purpose synthetic turf fields at Cedar Creek Park for the Nassau County Department of Public Works.

Design included storm water detention and retention, preparation of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and topographic and utility surveys. Controlled flow structures were used to discharge overflow to a box culvert that traversed the site. HAKS’ structural engineers designed the foundations for a gazebo, two scoreboards, and a multi-purpose building with restrooms and a snack bar.

Serving the communities of Wantagh, Seaford, and Bellmore, the 259-acre park also contains tennis courts, handball/paddleball courts, softball and tee ball fields, multipurpose lacrosse and tag football fields, basketball courts, a dog run, playgrounds, a roller rink, archery range, aerodrome, tether-car race track, and 2.5 miles of paths for jogging, walking, and cycling.

Construction for the new turf field complex at Cedar Creek Park began in April 2011 and was completed in time for the 2012 season.
