Hoyt Street Basin Retrofit

Ocean County, New Jersey<br style='line-height:2px'>Ocean County Engineering Department

HAKS provided construction management services for the retrofit of the Hoyt Street Basin in Lacey Township as part of the Gravel Wetland Stormwater Best Management Practice project for Ocean County. Funding for this project was granted through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust program. The construction of this project utilized subsurface gravel wetlands to improve water quality for runoff that discharges into the Barnegat Bay.

HAKS provided a full-time Resident Engineer and provided Construction Inspection services for the construction of the Hoyt Street Basin stormwater management retrofit. The quality of construction was constantly monitored for conformance with the Ocean County, NJDEP and NJDOT plans and specifications. The Resident was responsible for daily reporting of construction, review and approval of invoicing, and purchase orders. HAKS worked with the Ocean County Engineers Office and the contractor to meet the NJDEP-mandated aggressive construction schedule, and completed construction ahead of schedule. The result of the construction will be substantial water quality improvement of the discharge of this stormwater to the Barnegat Bay while maintaining the flood control capabilities of the basin.
