Fort Trumbull Beach Revetment

Milford, Connecticut<br style='line-height:2px'>Milford Department of Public Works

As a result of Tropical Storm Irene, HAKS performed an emergency detailed shoreline damage assessment for several areas of the Milford, Connecticut shoreline for the Milford Department of Public Works.  One of the most heavily impacted areas was the Fort Trumbull Beach Revetment, which was overtopped by Irene’s storm surge and wave action, causing significant erosion and undermining the backside and top of the structure.

HAKS worked closely with local, state and FEMA officials to develop repair alternatives and estimate costs. HAKS was subsequently selected to perform data collection and survey, project management, preliminary and final design, permitting, and construction administration and inspection of this FEMA-funded shoreline restoration project. Work was completed ahead of schedule and well under budget.
