PANYNJ Marine Terminals

HAKS provided engineering and inspection services on a call-in basis to PANYNJ as part of a 3-year term agreement. Work locations included the New Jersey and New York Marine Terminals, Operations Unit and Pavonia Station.

At the New Jersey Marine Terminals, we provided construction inspectors to monitor pile driving, installation, repairs, wrapping and jacking. HAKS worked on the rehabilitation of relieving platforms and underwater and above-water pier and bulkhead repairs. New construction included fender systems, buildings, digital video monitoring systems, paving, concrete, asphalt and other site work. Port Newark inspections included wharf reconstruction and maintenance dredging at various berths and Bound Creek wetland mitigation and storm water management system.

Inspections involved the removal of wharf structures; dredging; installation of steel sheet H and pipe piles; inspection of steel pile integrity; galvanized rebar installation; concrete placement for pile caps, deck slabs and seawalls; installation of timber pile fender systems; backfill and compaction; installation of 12-inch ductile iron pipe with hydrant connections; hydrostatic pressure tests; roadway concrete placement; asphalt placement; and railroad track replacement.

HAKS also provided office engineering services for Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA) at Port Ivory and Teleport Facilities in Staten Island as well as all TAA projects at Brooklyn Piers. Responsibilities included contract administration from pre-construction through close-out, including all financial information and payments, extra work, daily reports, material certifications, equal opportunity and wage compliance, insurance and correspondence for all contracts. Individual construction contracts involved a wide range of site/facility and marine construction. Office engineers utilized PANYNJ database systems for recordkeeping and contract payments.
