HAKS provided Resident Engineering and Inspection services for the design-build construction of this $113 million, 470,000-square-foot Bus Annex to meet bus storage and service assignments in the Borough of Staten Island. The facility includes a Bus Annex at the first floor, a mezzanine and a second floor for offices, locker rooms and support areas.

The facility has an operational capacity for 220 buses with a building footprint of 81,000 square feet and has facilities for servicing and maintaining buses, fueling, revenue extraction, bus washing and maintenance with 13 dedicated lift positions. Outside the facility are parking lots for 220 buses and 200 employee vehicles.

HAKS’ CM services covered pre-construction, construction and closeout; ongoing reviews of the design-build documents; and constructability reviews and comments to NYCT on such aspects as construction means and methods in relation to equipment and materials, job phasing, logistics plan and access, construction schedule, and security issues. We also provided coordination with utilities, including Con Edison, National Grid, and Verizon.
