14th Street/Union Square Station Electronic Security System


HAKS is managing New York City Transit’s (NYCT) construction of an electronic security system/command, control and communications system (ESS/C3) for the 14th Street/Union Square Station Complex, which is shared by the BMT Broadway Line, the BMT Canarsie Line and the IRT Lexington Avenue Line. The complex was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The goal of the $14 million project is to provide NYCT personnel with a comprehensive security awareness and enhance the ability of the MTA to effectively prevent, detect, alert, protect, respond, and recover from any situation, threat, event or incident involving its infrastructure, operations, employees, passengers, rolling stock, and tenants. The ESS components will be integrated together and include access control system, intrusion detection control system, CCTV cameras and video management/storage system, intercom system and network management systems, Ethernet switches, extenders and IP network, and power supplies for all devices.

HAKS is providing comprehensive construction management services, including inspection, scheduling, change order control, safety, quality control, a web-based project management system to submit and track all project documents and communications, force account work and systems integration.
