Prior to joining HAKS, Francisco A. Ruela, AIA, LEED AP, was principal-in-charge for architectural and interior design services for Prudential Financial, Inc.’s New York and New Jersey locations. Over a four-year period, his team completed more than 50 projects totaling over 600,000 square feet of space. Projects included.

  • One New York Plaza, New York City. Provided interior design services for the 46,000-square-foot renovation of an entire floor of the Headquarters Building (see photo), in order to relocate and consolidate Prudential groups from nearby buildings. Features included open space planning, private offices, and amenity spaces to house the chairman's suite and the law, international marketing, and registration departments. The fast-tracked project included space planning, schematic design, design development, contract documents, and construction administration.
  • 200 Wood Avenue, Woodbridge, New Jersey. Provided interior design services for the renovation of Prudential’s Client Presentation Conference Room to create an upscale "selling environment" for money management products and programs. The renovation included new furniture, finishes, lighting, and ceiling. The project required programming, schematic design, design development, contract documents, and construction administration.
  • Prudential Treasurer’s Department Trade Desk Relocation, Newark, New Jersey. Provided interior design services for relocating an eight-position trading desk function. The project included a newly constructed trading room located in the building interior with new trade desk furniture, wall-mounted flat screen monitors, new lighting and finishes. Design features included a raised ceiling feature over the trade desk and extensive use of glass on three walls of the room. The entire room is on emergency power to ensure continuation of business during a power failure. Services included interior design, architecture, MEP and fire protection engineering.
  • Prudential Northeast Domestic Restack, Gateway Center, Newark, New Jersey. Provided interior design for a 125,000-square-foot fast-track project, including programming, block planning, space planning, construction documentation, construction administration and move management for the Prudential Investment Group Restack and Consolidation project. The seven originally occupied floors were reduced to five floors after consolidation. The project required extensive preplanning to minimize new construction and cost, and five move phases to ensure that no employee moved more than once.
