Naugatuck River Greenway, Phase III

HAKS provided project management, material testing and construction engineering and inspection for Phase III of the Naugatuck River Greenway in Derby, Connecticut. The $650,000 project required construction of a multi-use trail (greenway) for both bicyclists and pedestrians within an environmentally sensitive flood plain (O’Sullivan’s Island and Boat Launch). Extensive sediment and erosion control measures were adhered to in order to accommodate environmentally sensitive tidal areas. Our construction engineering and inspection services included overview and supervision of grading, paving, signage, structure excavation and removal, prefabricated bridge construction and fencing. The project’s location adjacent to and within the Metro-North right-of-way required strict coordination with this facility. The project received federal and state funding.
