HAKS provided street design and related design services as part of its term agreement with the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC). The first round of task orders focused on improving school traffic safety measures at five schools in the Bronx and Manhattan.

Engineering services covered preliminary design investigation (PDI) related studies through final design. PDI services included project development and identification, topographic survey of 20 intersections within the project area, roadway and sidewalk conditions investigation, traffic study, utility studies and impact investigation, tree impact, preliminary estimate, and schematic geometric design. We received input from each of the five school principals, Community Board representatives, and other stakeholders.

Final design services included street grade and drainage studies, water main design, street lighting and traffic signal design, construction staging and maintenance and protection of traffic scheme design.
