Stony Brook Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology

HAKS was a member of the construction management team that oversaw the construction of a 100,000-square-foot facility to house the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology at SUNY-Stony Brook. It was the first building constructed on the 246-acre Stony Brook Research and Development Campus on the west side of Stony Brook Road.  HAKS supervised all of the MEP installations associated with the project, including all vital mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.

The $30 million, state-of-the-art facility was constructed on the Stony Brook Campus to house facilities for new and expanded research and educational programs, and for incubator companies to develop practical, business-oriented applications of the technology. Research conducted in the center will focus on areas critical to making the downstate region and New York State a dominant force in the wireless Internet and information technology sector.  Guided by innovative industrial partnerships, the proposed programs will not only address science and technological issues, but will culminate in the transfer to commercial applications, resulting in increased employment in established ventures and in the creation of new enterprises within New York State.
